Golf apparel maker Ashworth Golf Company has announced the return of its founder, John Ashworth, to the role of creative director.
A California native and third-generation golfer, Ashworth founded his namesake golf apparel brand in 1987, with a focus on a clean, laid-back style an athletic performance. His designs quickly gained popularity among top PGA Tour players, including Fred Couples, John Cook and Ernie Els. Couples' 1992 Masters victory, solidifying the U.S. brand's position as a leader in golf attire.
In 1997, Ashworth stepped away from his brand to pursue "other ventures rooted in his passion for golf and community," according to a press release. With brand returning to the market in 2023, the founder's return signifies a new era for the brand.
